Two Dixon residents total cars, suffer moderate injuries

DIXON, Mo. (Oct. 29, 2015) — Two Dixon residents suffered moderate injuries in separate Thursday wrecks, one in a rollover on Highway D south of Dixon and the other in a two-vehicle crash in Moniteau County west of Jefferson City. Both Dixon residents had their cars totaled.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, Haley L. Simpson, 19, had been driving eastbound in a 2000 Hyundai Tiberon on Highway D about six miles east of Dixon when she slid off the right side of the roadway about 12:35 p.m., struck a ditch, and her vehicle landed on its top. Simpson, who troopers said had not been wearing her seat belt, was transported by Dixon Ambulance District personnel to Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla for treatment. Her vehicle was totaled and removed by Jack’s Towing.

Troopers reported later that Earl L. Van Doren, 58, of Dixon, had been driving eastbound on US Route 50 east of Norgrass Road in Moniteau County when his 2009 Hyundai Accent struck a 2010 Ford E-350 at 6:54 p.m. which had been stopped in traffic facing eastbound. Van Doren’s car was totaled by the pickup driven by Ethan E. Denman, 25, of Versailles, sustained only minor damage. Troopers reported they did not know whether Van Doren had been wearing his seatbelt.

Van Doren was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of moderate injuries. Denman and his passengers, Saeng Anouphouthi, 42, of Olathe, Kan., Christian I. Carrillo-Lopez, 23, of Independence, Cosma Griffin-Kendrick, 39, of Columbia, and Jane G. Odipo, 38, of Lenexa, Kan., were all transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City. Odipo had moderate injuries but the others had minor injuries; all had been wearing their seatbelts.

Van Doren’s vehicle was totaled and removed by Leepers Towing. Denman’s vehicle had minor damage and was towed by Whans Towing of Versailles.
